    Finally... Real Whiskey...

I've probably drank 5-10 thousand litres of Rye in my short time here on Earth. I'll avoid your avant garde brands listed above and I'll rank the meat and potatoes types we drink up here in Rye Whiskey Land.

    1. Canadian Club: All in all, was my go to drink for 5 years. Best value for me.
    2. Royal Reserve: R&R pulls at my heart strings. It's not good, but it's cheap and it comes with a sticker for your wallet! Everybody who was anybody had their wallets covered in 2" of R&R stickers. R&R is just one of those things that makes me happy.
    3. Fourty Creek: People like it. I don't. But people do.
    4. Crown Royal: Possibly the most overrated whiskey of all time.

I think Whiskey should be illegal. Most of the truly stupid things I've done can be directly linked back to Rye Whiskey.

Quick question, been cleaning up my basement the past couple of weeks when I have a chance, and I came across a box with bottles of Whisky and Rum(Johnny Walker Black, Blue, Jack Daniels and a couple of other brands), can anyone tell me if they are still good? Some of the bottles are open, and they are years old, some over 10 years old.

Assuming the bottles were closed tight, and that they weren't on their side so the liquor was in contact with the cork, they should be fine to drink.

I'm new here but i fully endorse Michter's. I love what they do with their products. They actually get the same MGP mash that Whistle Pig gets (although Whistle Pig tends to keep it 100% rye without blending). Michter's is terrific for about $34. Another great rye in that price range is the Col. EH Taylor rye. That one is made at Buffalo Trace.

Lol, Canada is what started me on Rye, most of my family lives there. Sadly, like I said earlier, you can't usually get rye in bars here in the states, but I have enjoyed all of the brands you listed here in the past.

Most rye is shipped to NYC. I think over 80%. I recently visited Savannah, GA and discovered that's where the rest of it is shipped.

I got to try a great (and very affordable at about $28) bourbon this weekend. It was made by Redemption (who makes a 95% Rye that I dislike). It was their "High Rye Bourbon." The Rye content is a whopping 38.2% (higher than Bulleitt) and makes for a wonderful spice. It's 92 proof so pretty standard but it really is a nice mix of sweet and spice. I highly recommend it.

A bit pricey at $38, so I won't get it often, but it was real good.

Bushmills 21 is preferred but would settle for any Bushmills. I prefer whiskey to scotch. to me scotch has an aftertaste I don't particular care for
