Gallant was a shitty coach like we all know but Lafreniere’s growth this season is because he put in obvious immense off season work to his skating and everything else is secondary. If he was the same player when Gallant was here, we’d know. Don’t take away the kid’s credit for putting in the work by placing the blame for him on Gallant. GG had a lot of flaws but Lafreniere outright sucked donkey dick his first few seasons, worked ridiculously hard on the off season, and earned his progress this year. He didn’t deserve any looks on the powerplay or the top line, he was that bad. This year, it’s only the way it is bc our PP is the best in the league. He’s made it hard because of him, not the coach

I actually don’t think we need chytil for this series. I’d rather him take the practice time and get up to full speed while we beat the caps. Where we will need him is for the absolutely insane gauntlet the rest of the way.

This should be an easy four or five games and if it isn’t, we can probably kiss the cup goodbye this year. We play the worst team in the playoffs, so we need to take advantage of that and beat them quickly to get the rest so that the next three series against very good teams we will have some more energy.

It’s a breakout season no two ways about it. Well done. Proved a lot of ppl wrong. Now it’s “can he take the next step?”

We got the seed we want and should breeze through round one if we’re going to win the cup. We have the easiest match up on paper if any team in the playoffs and this year all of the contenders are really good. That extra week or few days of rest may actually be the difference. Could care less who it is, we should brush aside whoever is in that spot and if we don’t it’s going to be a short postseason

Now all of a sudden all these teams want the last WC. They would have made it a lot easier on themselves if they want on a mini tear like the isles did a month ago. Going to be a lot of “just came up short” interviews this week
