  1. Hopefully they won't be dressing two rookies and a journeyman on D, and they'll get their 3rd line C back.
  2. Right. Like GG year 1 The team look like they were white knuckling games just waiting for a power play. A deeper look into the analytics says that was true. This year, on the whole the analytics aren't pretty, but when you watch games they look like a completely different team.
  3. Yea. Ferraro says a lot of good things, too. He got dragged for his podcast comments (which were nowhere near as bad as made out to be), but he also praised Rempe game. I don't think saying Panarin is a "tier 2 MVP" is an insult. They're calling him MVP caliber in a season where two or three other players are just doing better. Carolina deserves praise, They have lit it up since trade deadline. Saying that another team is good is not the same thing as saying the Rangers are bad. Ultimately, there are so many good teams at the top of the standings, they have to talk about something.
  4. I agree with almost everything aside from the idea that where McDermid was playing doesn't matter. Rempe shouldn't have to fight someone who wasn't even on the team or even in the conference. That's some mercenary shit. That's not "the code". Everything else we're on same page.
  5. I don't think it's anti Rangers at all. These people are paying attention to the entire league, they're not hyper focused on one team the way we are. Like I said in the other thread, you can disagree with the case they're making, but the case they're making is definitely there. They aren't making the stuff up. They're not out here saying Barzal should be MVP.
  6. Boston doesn't have anywhere near the supporting cast that the Rangers do. Their top scoring D is McAvoy with 44 pts. Fox has 63 in 62. Pasta center is Zacha with 50 pts. Trocheck is P/G. And those are just boxcars. We can agree with the case, or disagree with it, but there's certainly is a case for Pasta over Panarin.
  7. Don't be so hard on yourself No need to stand corrected, no telling of Quennville would have done as good a job or better. What can be said for sure at this point is that running any version of this team back out there with Gallant, Even if you made some changes around the margins, was not going to be successful. If you have a shitty painter, you can get them all the brand new brushes you want to, they're still a shitty painter. And GG is shitty.
  8. I would actually rest him before the playoffs. It's become pretty evident to me over the past couple of games that he looks tired. And when you think about it it makes a lot of sense. There's no team in the league who gets less help from their defense in terms of transporting the puck than the Rangers (per Shayna). Maybe McDavid has to do more work up in Edmonton than Mika does moving the puck up the ice. It's incredibly taxing to have to move the puck from deep your zone, and then work deep in the other team zone. That's why having a line mate like Kreider who doesn't really skate, really hurts. There's no stretch pass, there's no throw the puck up ice and create a foot race. Again, would love to see the zone entry data on that line. But yeah, that's why you see him taking shots from far out. He could use a break.
  9. One thing we can all be sure of, if shit goes off the rails in one or two games, the coach isn't going to just sit there twiddling his thumbs and saying "well they know what they have to do, they just need to go and do it. I don't need to tell them what they have to do, they can figure it out." Which is what we got last year.
  10. Add in the fact that a handful of players on this team have yet to play their best hockey. Mika Kreids Miller Goodrow Kakko All have more to give.
  11. Completely agree. Analytics don't take into account playoff intensity. That's why they play the games and they don't just run a report to see who should win. Analytics don't take into account playing the same team night after night for 2 weeks, what you learn about that team, and what you learn to hate about that other team. Analytics don't take into account how many players are playing through more serious injuries than they would during the season. I think a lot of people use analytics for the wrong reasons. If you see a team or player is bad, then analytics can tell you why. Too often we see people say "they're analytics suck, therefore they suck" yet that player or team is successful on the stats that really matter (box cars). Nobody goes into a contract negotiation and says they led the league in high danger chances created. They go in and say they had this many assists and this many goals.
  12. Florida is 4-5-1 in their last 10, winning only one game in their last six against Philadelphia, losing the other five to play off teams. They're a paper tiger.
  13. Do you believe Rempe should fight a guy who wasn't even playing in the Eastern conference when the Bastian hit happened (with no supplemental NHL discipline)? I don't see why he should.
  14. That team should be worried about having to go through the Rangers.
  15. Bennet? Sam Bennet? He of the 34 points? Mean Reinhart?
