  1. Agreed. I saw one player abuse them with speed, and it's the same player who abuses the entire league.
  2. I'm kind of sad about that to be honest. I think it would have been awesome for Mac to record a point in every home game.
  3. After watching last night's game, I don't understand why anybody is worried about who the Rangers are going to play in the first round. They can play with (and beat) any team in the league.
  4. The issue is that he's not a skill player either. He has one dimension, and that is netfront. He was atrocious in overtime. With 3 minutes left he had the opportunity to gain the blue line with speed and space and he stopped short of the blue line and back passed to Mika. Later in that shift, he blindly through the puck at the front of the net which resulted in a turnover right in the middle of the ice where Colorado went the other way. He's a player who should never have the puck on his stick. He should just use his stick to tip and whack at loose pucks. He's a disaster when he has the puck on his stick for more than a second.
  5. It's not about metrics, it's about in-ice play. Jones gets the puck up ice more quickly, the zone exits are cleaner, less giveaways (Gus actually leads the D in GVA/60). Look, we all know Gus is going to play, probably won't hurt the team, but Jones just looks better and much more confident than Gus has.
  6. You're not gaining anything except 2-1 and holding the opposition to 1 goal in 2 of the games is better than 0-3. Tampa is beatable. Not sure why everyone thinks the Rangers would worry more about them than any other opponent, which you can say the exact same thing about (regular season is meaningless, which I said verbatim in another thread regarding anaytics).
  7. For all intents and purposes they've been playing playoff-style games. Agree that Gus is a Lavvy fave, think the sentiment here is that some of us wouldn't make that choice, but we're not the ones who decide.
  8. Rangers are 2-1 vs Tampa with one meltdown unlikely to be replicated. I'm not worried about them over a seven game series.
  9. Agreed. Jones is in the zone and Gus has struggled.
  10. This reminds me of all types of predictions about how diminished a player he would be this season, and then he went out and had an MVP caliber season and set a career high in goals after people complaining he didn't shoot enough. So respectfully, anybody who thinks they know the future, doesn't know shit. The idea that players are static is mind-boggling to me.
