  1. Don't be so hard on yourself No need to stand corrected, no telling of Quennville would have done as good a job or better. What can be said for sure at this point is that running any version of this team back out there with Gallant, Even if you made some changes around the margins, was not going to be successful. If you have a shitty painter, you can get them all the brand new brushes you want to, they're still a shitty painter. And GG is shitty.
  2. I would actually rest him before the playoffs. It's become pretty evident to me over the past couple of games that he looks tired. And when you think about it it makes a lot of sense. There's no team in the league who gets less help from their defense in terms of transporting the puck than the Rangers (per Shayna). Maybe McDavid has to do more work up in Edmonton than Mika does moving the puck up the ice. It's incredibly taxing to have to move the puck from deep your zone, and then work deep in the other team zone. That's why having a line mate like Kreider who doesn't really skate, really hurts. There's no stretch pass, there's no throw the puck up ice and create a foot race. Again, would love to see the zone entry data on that line. But yeah, that's why you see him taking shots from far out. He could use a break.
  3. One thing we can all be sure of, if shit goes off the rails in one or two games, the coach isn't going to just sit there twiddling his thumbs and saying "well they know what they have to do, they just need to go and do it. I don't need to tell them what they have to do, they can figure it out." Which is what we got last year.
  4. Add in the fact that a handful of players on this team have yet to play their best hockey. Mika Kreids Miller Goodrow Kakko All have more to give.
  5. Completely agree. Analytics don't take into account playoff intensity. That's why they play the games and they don't just run a report to see who should win. Analytics don't take into account playing the same team night after night for 2 weeks, what you learn about that team, and what you learn to hate about that other team. Analytics don't take into account how many players are playing through more serious injuries than they would during the season. I think a lot of people use analytics for the wrong reasons. If you see a team or player is bad, then analytics can tell you why. Too often we see people say "they're analytics suck, therefore they suck" yet that player or team is successful on the stats that really matter (box cars). Nobody goes into a contract negotiation and says they led the league in high danger chances created. They go in and say they had this many assists and this many goals.
  6. Florida is 4-5-1 in their last 10, winning only one game in their last six against Philadelphia, losing the other five to play off teams. They're a paper tiger.
  7. Do you believe Rempe should fight a guy who wasn't even playing in the Eastern conference when the Bastian hit happened (with no supplemental NHL discipline)? I don't see why he should.
  8. That team should be worried about having to go through the Rangers.
  9. Bennet? Sam Bennet? He of the 34 points? Mean Reinhart?
  10. Numbers wise he's better than last year, but it would have been hard to be worse. The Athletic's player card rates him as a $2M defenseman, for whatever that is worth. They value Key almost right at his contract, and Fox at $14M.
  11. It's like having pneumonia and missing the days when it was just an upper respiratory infection.
  12. Lots of people here predicted this team would be a bubble team for various reasons. None of the predictions led to bubbliness. However, this season, shit happened. Injuries Bad goaltending stretches Bad PP stretches Uneven 5v5 play And they've been at the top of the league and #1 in the division all year. They get contributions from everywhere. They're never out of games. They win in bunches but never lost more than 3 in a row and pretty sure they only did that once this season? Either way no one could have predicted how good this team would be. They are a legitimate contender.
  13. 1. Artemi Panarin 2. Adam Fox 3. Vincent Trocheck 4. Alexis Lafrenière 5. Igor Shesterkin 6. Mika Zibanejad 7. Jonathan Quick 8. Chris Kreider 9. K'Andre Miller 10. Braden Schneider 11. Kaapo Kakko 12. Jimmy Vesey 13. Zac Jones +1 14. Will Cuylle -1 15. Matt Rempe 16. Jack Roslovic 17. Erik Gustafsson 18. Alexander Wennberg 19. Barclay Goodrow 20. Jonny Brodzinski 21. Chad ## Cuylle -3 last night....Jones was great. Moved Jones up one so he was right underneath Cuylle, then dropped Cullye down one.
  14. Entire line was quiet for 2 games now. It's almost like trying the one thing that hasn't been tried yet, should be tried...
  15. You should go back and look at last years garden of dreams GDT, because I think that joke is recycled.
