Also the second loss to the Capitals came at a time when the Rangers were in a mini slump and mired in mistakes/sloppy hockey. I'd like to believe that stretch is a thing of the past and the team has largely corrected the issues. And so the season series with the Caps, IMO is completely inconsequential going into this series. Even if the Rangers had gone 4-0 against them, I wouldn't put much stock into it as it's been more than 3 months since they last played each other.

Speaking of which, anyone know whatever happened to Al Trautwig?

It's still wild to me that if the Flyers knew of Detroit's late game heroics and that they were already eliminated, they likely wouldn't have bothered with pulling the goalie and if they went on to beat Washington in OT/SO, we'd be facing Detroit this weekend. Strange turn of events, and it came down to the slimmest of margins. Sucks for the Wings fans but that's how she goes sometimes.

I don't consider Boston in that upper tier of teams in the East along with NYR/CAR/FLA. It's only all the loser points that puts them there. To me they're clearly more of a 2nd tier team alongside TOR/TBL. Which is why I think the Leafs should legitimately have a decent shot of eliminating them, despite all their first round choke jobs.

Classic rivalry. Sure glad it's not Florida-Toronto as I feel like the Leafs would've folded quickly. Boston with their inflated record thanks to all the loser points should definitely be beatable by Toronto.

I'm kinda happy that Boston lost. I feel like Tampa Bay has a lot better shot of taking out Florida than Toronto who are a bit too soft to hang with them over 7 games.
