  1. Laviolette has been speaking extremely high of Jones since he broke into the lineup. Whenever we are 100% healthy and Gus is ready to come back in, the decision will definitely be more interesting than I think any of us ever expected. I wouldn’t be surprised either way at this point, to be honest.
  2. If we get Sakic, chances are exponentially higher that Smith budges a year later and brings Bure in from Vancouver. Having Sakic and Bure in their primes, along with Leetch still being what he was and the likelihood Gretzky may have played an extra year means we likely have a different outlook on what those Rangers eventually looked like.
  3. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/03/27/dc-capitals-wizards-capital-one-arena-alexandria-bowser-leonsis/ UPDATE: Will remain in Capital One Arena until 2050. The arena will be upgraded over 3 years at a cost of $515 Million dollars.
  4. Holy Santa Claus Shit. Lindgren is playing tonight. Good Lord. Guy is built different.
  5. It comes out on the 16th in Canada and then the following day in the US. I personally can’t wait to watch this. For those of you who know me and my memory when it comes to this type of shit, it should come as no surprise when I say I remember all of this like it was yesterday. Really was a fork in the road type of moment for the Rangers. No disrespect to LaFontaine, who did play well here in his very short time as a Ranger, but I truly do believe us landing Sakic after losing Messier may have eliminated us from going through what we all now know to be the “Dark Years.” He was a young and already accomplished superstar with a Cup under his belt and in all likelihood would have come in and worn the ‘C’ from Day 1 here. Losing Messier was a kick in the groin but getting Sakic to replace him would have been huge. We all know the story about this. I can’t wait to see some behind the scenes shit from all parties involved.
  6. Any word on if Trouba made the trip? I assume Lindgren didn’t. But we’re right in that area where Trouba is supposed to be back. Remember reading either this trip or right after.
  7. See? I agree. I don’t think we would lose a series to Tampa. But I do think it would take a bit more out of them right out of the gate than landing a matchup like the Caps or Red Wings. To me, that doesn’t scream that I fear an opponent. I don’t right now. I do fear them running out of gas, which I’ve seen happen with not only them but with others. I know it’s dealers choice as far as you get. And honestly, sometimes a matchup you think is favorable ends up being anything but that. That being said, I would like to finally be able to see a Rangers team go in, land a favorable matchup and make quick work of an opponent as opposed to having to have a dramatic long series right out of the gate. Save that drama for later in the Spring and save the gas tank. That’s all I’m really trying to say.
  8. I guess I do and I don’t. I don’t think I fear anyone going in. But the issue I’ve seen in the past is that we tend to always have long series. I would like to see us go into the playoffs and have, for once, a playoff series where it doesn’t go 7 games. It’s not too often that teams can go 7 games 4 times and win. It’s happened, but not too often. So when I say there are teams I would prefer to avoid, it’s not because I fear them ultimately beating us; it’s because I honestly would like to finally see us get a favorable matchup and to finally do what needs to be done with that favorable matchup. And that, to me, is flexing our muscle and getting out of a Round 1 series relatively quickly to not exert our energy early on and to tire out when you reach the later rounds. Just my thoughts.
  9. I just didn’t get the hate being spit at them by all angles. Panarin has identical numbers to Pasta, yet one is a Tier 1 MVP candidate while the other is Tier 2. And then the bullshit about Carolina and the blatant disregard for the Rangers. As if we’re a pushover. We’ve been in 1st place since before fucking Halloween. I hope we murder Colorado tonight.
  10. I agree. I’m not disputing that. MacKinnon is going to win. McDavid will be right there. And with the way Tampa is surging, I would have to imagine Kucherov likely will be selection 3. Matthews, too, deserves to be up there with the historic pace he is on. But if we’re gonna lump players, the way they were last night, and you’re going to throw Pasta into Tier 1, then Panarin needs to be there with them. Their stats are just about identical. You can’t have him there, and then lump Panarin in with Reinhart and Hyman. To me, that’s just anti-NYR bias. And that’s an agenda I hate pushing. But last night, it just seemed to be so much of that.
  11. All that was spit out was Carolina, and how they’ve learned a lot with the losing the last few years. And how it may be their time to put it together.
  12. I agree with Phil and Pete. Are there teams I would prefer to avoid in Round 1? Sure. But I wouldn’t fear anyone. The Rangers are a handful and will be hard for anyone to handle for 7 games. I would like to avoid 2nd in the East and a potential matchup with Tampa in Round 1. I do think we win a series with them this time around. But I would like to see this group get the 1 seed in the East and get the runt of the litter in the WC2 slot. Washington, Detroit, etc.
  13. The lack of respect from NHL circles is hysterical. Biz, who we know is a troll, was openly campaigning for Toronto to fall into a WC for a matchup with us. The crew was talking about East favorites and drooling all over Florida and Carolina. NHL Network was talking about Metro favorites and mentioned Carolina over us. Lets not forget we are the only team to actually clinch, to be in 1st place since late-October. How are we getting this little respect in comparison to Carolina? To Florida? Florida had a hot run last year. Everyone is drooling this year. Sound familiar? Kind of like, oh I don’t know, us last year? Amazing run the year prior, good team going in, all the pieces. Yawn. And Carolina? Perpetually failing come playoff time? A favorite over us when they lost 2 of 3 against us and have been playing catch up since October with us? Hysterical. We’re being disrespected. And I’m gonna love watching all of these assholes eat crow in a few months.
  14. The clowns on TNT had Panarin listed in 2nd tier of MVP with Bennett and Hyman. First tier was McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews and Pastranak. What in the world has Pasternak done to be in that conversation that Panarin hasn’t done? My guess is recency bias since Boston was on TNT. But sheesh.
