  1. We all looked at this stretch weeks out (even the NJ game) and talked about how tough of a stretch it would be. 6 games in 8 days. We went 5-1. And if not for a 30 minute brain fart in Tampa, may have gone 6-0. Their transition game is hyper fast, they have contributions everywhere, Roslovic and Wennberg both fit in perfectly and Shesterkin is looking better than ever. The Rangers are a pain in the fucking neck to play against. And I love it.
  2. Running out of words for this team. They play so well together. Their transition is stupid quick. The Islanders couldn’t handle it at all. Just an unreal effort.
  3. Most years, I felt like the award was a pretty easy decision. If not, a debate between maybe 2 or so players. This year? Not so much. Quite a few candidates. Who would be your pick for the award this year?
  4. I see both sides of the coin here. Because the simple fact of the matter is this, in my opinion. Has he had a down year? Offensively? Sure. All around? No. He’s crucial. He’s been good. Can he be better? Can he show up more in the goal scoring department? Sure. I wouldn’t call his overall body of work even close to bad. He is a guy who plays in every situation for a team who’s special teams around the top of the league, and is the 1C on a team that many deem a Top-2 as far as Eastern Conference favorites go. All of that being said, I will say this: in order for us to actually crack this code and win the Cup, as good as Mika has been away from the puck, I see no way we win it all unless he is a factor on the scoresheet. Our teams all around game is in a good place. But at some point, every team needs its superstar players to be superstars in the playoffs. Mika has shown he has what it takes to be a difference there. And he needs to do it again this year if we want this ride to end with a parade.
  5. Well, that’s one way to look at it. From one set of eyes. Quite a few others saw a team playing its 3rd game in 4 nights against a team playing its first game since over the weekend, and a game that was critical to them even making the playoffs. I’m not making excuses for them when they lose. Or when they have a bit of a stinker. But, I think one thing we can try and excuse from our vocabulary for now regarding this team is that they’re quitters. They didn’t quit. Did they execute? No. Were bad decisions made? Absolutely. But to say they quit, again, is a bit extreme for a team that has played as hard as they have over the most recent stretch.
  6. I actually just looked. I got the game right, but for some reason I thought we hit a bit of a wall after the game. My mind, in my old age… Lol.
  7. Oh shit. Maybe I’m thinking of another game? Im off kilter man. I’m sick as a dog this week. Fucking norovirus, lol.
  8. Funny you say that because watching this game reminded me a lot of a game earlier in the season in Dallas. We played well to start, tired and got steamrolled. Kind of was the tip of the iceberg in terms of our mid-season swoon. Typically, I’d be afraid of that potentially happening here. But, good teams learn. And I think they learned that slip ups happen. Dust off your shit, back at it with two rivalry games over the weekend. Try and go take both.
  9. I think we’ll bounce back. When you looked at this wacky ass schedule, you knew we were bound to have one stinker in the bunch. Tampa needed this one and they haven’t played a game since the Clinton Administration. Meanwhile this was our 27th game this week. As game wore on, missed opportunities and fatigue came back and hit us in the ass. Bounce back Saturday for what *should be* a soft landing spot in Pittsburgh for a completely checked out Penguins team counting down until summer.
  10. I wouldn’t want to see Tampa Round 1. I think when push comes to shove we beat them, but they could be a handful. I would much rather see any of NYI/DET/PHI then this team.
  11. FWIW, I originally leaned toward Igor Saturday and Quick Sunday. Might reverse course. Give Igor the extra day. These last 2 games have been a lot.
