Big-time iMPACT! coming up this week for TNA.

I'll be watching as soon as the Rangers loss is over

Same. Beauty of DVR.

03-02-2011, 06:46 PM
Sting maybe returns this week

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 06:47 PM
No question. I'm not even basing that off spoilers, either. That 3.3.11 vignette was a total return jab. Sting is most definitely returning.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 06:49 PM
Ahh that's right,I completely forgot its already March.
I must say I'm really liking Beer Money lately, great tag team but wondering where the MCMG are

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 06:58 PM
I really wish TNA had alternative programming, because their roster is way too big for a single two-hour program every week. That's how talents like MCMG go from ex-TNA Tag Team Champions to not even being on television in a matter of weeks. Kills me.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:00 PM
Yeah, its crazy, crowd loves them too and both have great personalities.Generation me or whatever the fuck they are called, they annoy me to no end

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 07:03 PM
HA! They're ber talented, but really really young. I'll be damned if they aren't entertaining, though — I just wish they'd actually buy a pair of fuckin' wrestling boots. Them coming out in those bell-bottom rockers pants and white sneakers just kills me.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:08 PM
Definitely talented but being pushed too soon I think
LOL at the white sneakers

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 07:15 PM
Probably, but that had to be done. What other heel team at the time could have been pushed instead? They had no one, unless they pushed Ink Inc. in their place?

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:22 PM
Gunner and Murphy..lol?

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 07:30 PM
Weren't really around at the time, and they were greener than fresh sod at the time, too. Hell, they still are.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:31 PM
I think they suck anyways..real stiff

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 07:33 PM
Very, but they have the look and feel of a decent team. With some help on the mic or with a mouth piece (like anyone in Immortal) they're not that bad at all, and Immortal needs a tag team, so I'm OK with them being there. Better them than seeing guys like Ink Inc. in their place.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:38 PM
Yeah, don't really care for Ink Inc either

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 07:42 PM
I don't mind them, but I never want to see them in the main event. Team just isn't good enough for that kind of exposure.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:45 PM
you digging the whole Angle-Jarret feud?

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 07:53 PM
Not really. Makes sense for the show, but I was never really a fan of this kind of storyline. I hated it when it was happening with Lita/Hardy/Edge, and it's really no different now, but I can understand why they're running it. Really puts over Jarrett as a huge heel.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 07:59 PM
Karen annoys me,just her face, something about it and I've always hated Jarrett..blah

Phil in Absentia
03-02-2011, 08:11 PM
Yeah, most people really don't like Karen very much. I just don't really like when "wives" become part of storylines.

!br-avery!
03-02-2011, 08:25 PM
Yea,it's too drawn out and takes too much time..just want to see Angle vs Jarrett already

Phil in Absentia
03-03-2011, 09:28 PM
Wow, the crowd at Fayetville is fantastic!

!br-avery!
03-03-2011, 09:39 PM
Robert Rudde..sp?
Reminds me of a young AA when he wrestles

Phil in Absentia
03-03-2011, 10:26 PM

Phil in Absentia

It's not to wrestle. He can't. Body is destroyed — Hogan style. My guess is he's there to promote Tough Enough.

What a mess the Victory Road main event was... WOW.

Hardy's been officially sent home, and the chances of him being released outright aren't off the table just yet.

Check it out while you still can:

He is/was — been on a major abuse kick lately. No idea what he's on, but he was fuckin' bombed for the PPV and destroyed the main event.

They sent him home for the upcoming iMPACT! tapings and there's a chance he may get released.

No idea. I didn't order it. I only read the results and caught that main event on YouTube.

Niko
03-15-2011, 01:12 PM
I wonder how long the match was SUPPOSED to go. I mean, I doubt it was supposed to last 3 minutes lol. They probably had to end the PPV like 20 minutes earlier because Hardy is a prick. Fuck that clown.

Phil in Absentia
03-15-2011, 01:21 PM
That's my guess, man. From what I understand the PPV was cut down significantly because of it. Main events like that tend to be 20-40 minute matches.

Niko
03-15-2011, 01:55 PM
I know you're a fan of his wrestling, but honestly, both Hardy's do nothing for me.

Phil in Absentia

Haha. I was actually looking at some old YouTube club clips from the Attitude Era and a little after, and wow the WWE was so much better. LOL I found a couple of 2 minute long segments that were better than anything shown on RAW during the Cena Era of the last 6 years.

The last season of NXT bombed in the ratings. That fuckin' show is moronic – since when does the ability to carry a keg around the ring and up the entrance ramp have anything to do with the ability to be a professional wrestler? :palm:

Phil in Absentia
03-15-2011, 09:19 PM
His kids won't take over, HHH will. HHH actually has a better understanding of what it takes to develop new stars — he's commented numerous times about the abysmal state of WWE's "developmental" group who keeps churning out the same carbon copy "bodies" with no brains or personality to boot.

Sharpshooter
03-15-2011, 09:24 PM
This is true. Hopefully Vince doesn't have to die for that to happen, though. lol

HHH is doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff anyway. I just hope him getting more involved happens sooner rather than later.

Biased opinion. TNA is as much as a snoozefest as WWE, wrestling as a whole has lost it's thunder a very long time ago.

Obviously it's a bias, but TNA has better "stars", they just have more inconsistent and lesser produced programming.

Perosonality drives professional wrestling. Right now, the majority of the personality is in TNA, not WWE — see Kurt Angle, Pope, Hogan, Flair, Bischoff, Ray, Styles, Anderson, Daniels, Beer Money, Samoa Joe, etc.

WWE has Cena, CM Punk, HHH, Undertaker and then a huge drop-off to the rest of the generic performers with generic names.

LATimes.com is reporting that World Wrestling Entertainment has in fact renamed itself, and it will now simply be referred to as WWE. Vince McMahon spoke on the renaming, and the following is an excerpt from the article: "I think every brand has to re-create itself," he said. "I want everyone to look at us in a vastly different way than they have."

To do that, McMahon plans to go on a spending spree to acquire media assets that could expand WWE's business beyond the ring. In particular, he said, WWE is targeting companies involved in production, live entertainment and branding.

"It is a logical broadening of what we already do," McMahon said in an interview."

http://www.wwe.com/inside/edge-announcement

The Rated-R Superstar had been suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. This is not the first time Edge has experienced these symptoms of nueropraxia. An MRI administered at Atlanta Midtown Diagnostic Imaging last Monday was sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at The Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After careful examination of the MRI, it was determined that Edge would never be cleared to compete again, and thus, he is forced to retire.

In 2003, Edge underwent a two level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. After being cleared to compete, The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring, resulting in stenosis of the spine, or a narrowing of the spinal column, above and below the fused discs. This narrowing resulted in less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spinal cord. Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE since doing so could result in paralysis or even death.

Yeah, I guess the report of Pope leaving TNA was exaggerated. What happened was, he said on his Twitter page, in regards to Impact was that it was "time to move on", and there were reports that he got his degree in Criminal Justice. So, that part could be true, but I guess he's not leaving IW then. :)

I really think TNA is spiraling down ala WCW style... I wish Sting has jumped ship.....

Phil in Absentia
06-22-2011, 12:07 PM
In what sense?

Ratings are consistent (WCW's weren't), they are the highest rated show on SpikeTV, they're operating in the black as per Jarrett (WCW wasn't), and are the second largest televised company in the US behind WWE.

Sting to WWE would have been such a shit move for his career. Big deal — he goes to Wrestlemania to job to Undertaker and then what? Commentary like Booker T? Total irrelevance and no screen time like Nash? He's better off in TNA. He needs them as much as they needed him. Mutually beneficial to stay.

CreaseCrusader91
06-22-2011, 12:21 PM
As a fan I would have liked to see Sting. Yes they are the highest rated show on Spike, but their storylines have become predicable. The whole "They" Storyline and the botched return of the MEM and stuff like that shows pisses me off.

The fact that the X Division gets jobbed and the X ring is gone sucks. Ultimate X matches were one of the best parts of TNA in my opinion.

I wonder if CM Punk goes back to TNA.

Phil in Absentia
06-22-2011, 12:39 PM
Well, as to the six-sided ring, wrestling is done in a "squared circle". The six-sided ring was a gimmick that brought nothing to the table and caused more problems than it created any sort of indentity as most wreslters had no idea how to really work in it having grown up in a tradition ring, not to mention that TNA began with a four-sided ring and only moved to the six-sided ring after AAA used it.

As to the X Division "jobbing", they getting a gigantic push right now. Losing does not equate jobbing. It's furthering the story line of the character of Bischoff trying to crush the division. Ultimate X matches can still be held in a four-sided ring, just as they were to begin with. The six-sided ring was meaningless.

CM Punk is taking time off. Highly doubt he'd go back to TNA.

Still does nothing to make up for the tremendous amount of personality-less and talentless "superstars" they're parading around like certifiable all-stars.

HHH as commish may be nice, but it's a talent overhaul that'll get me to watch again. You could bring back all my WCW buddies every week and if it meant having to watch losers like Ted Biase Jr., I'd still never turn it on.

HHH as commisioner has to be the best thing to happen to the WWE since Stone Cold Steve Austin. He's a fucking riot!

Let's hope that HHH doesn't put himself over and make CM Punk look weak in this storyline. CM Punk is the BEST thing going right now in wrestling and has so much momentum. I don't think I would've had him return so fast yet though. I also would've had him appear in street clothes and come thru the crowd tonight or last night to make it look like he still wasn't "under contract", despit him being back now as he announced that off-air. I think they had him come back too soon.

God though, man, WWE programming is so hard to get thru, but I guess the WWE will now make you wait until the end of the show each week, and have something happen, or do something cool near or at the end of the show.

I like CM Punk's old theme music too, but I dig the new theme music too as i'm a Living Colour fan and love that song "Cult Of Personality".

I see them or think they'll be doing CM Punk vs HHH authority figure storyline, much like Steve Austin vs McMahon was in the late 90's.

Not saying it will be as popular as that storyline, but I think it could help maybe "save wrestling", or at least "save the WWE" from putting or helping put a stop to putting out a very bland, horrible, watered-down, generic product.

This CM Punk thing has me interested at least. And I would just like to say if they screw this up or even bury him, or mis-use him in any way, or have him job to Cena at Summerslam, if they face each other there, or have HHH make him look bad in any storyline, I will once again quit watching the WWE or wrestling altogether. The first time I stopped watching the WWE on a weekly basis was when Booker T in 2002-2003 was so or getting so over with the fans or the crowd, and he was CLEARLY ready to be put over and go to that next level. So what happens? At Wrestlemania 19, a match where Booker T was set to win the WWE title from HHH that night, they have HHH go over or win, or HHH has himself go over Booker T and win, a win that does nothing for HHH and a win that does nothing for Booker T in the end. When in fact if Booker T had actually won the title that night it would've catipulted him into that or onto that next level.

Booker T's career never recovered from that loss.

Ever since then, i've been on and off with the WWE, and before any of this CM Punk stuff took place, I had or hadn't watched any WWE programming for a good year.

So the fact they got me interested again is good. Granted it's one thing, but it's a big deal that this happened with CM Punk.

So they need to book or make CM Punk look strong in his feud(s) and storylines. He's the best and ONLY thing the WWE has going for it right now.

On another note, nice to see Jim Ross back, and finally get treated with respect by the WWE, and not embarassed, like he has been so many times by the WWE on-screen. Good to see Michael Cole getting embarassed instead, although I didn't see the point of that match, or Michael Cole wrestling.

Anyway, CM Punk has so much momentum right now and is so over with the fans right now too. I hope they don't blow it. But i'm not expecting much. So i'm gonna enjoy this while it lasts.

God though, man, WWE programming is so hard to get thru, but I guess the WWE will now make you wait until the end of the show each week, and have something happen, or do something cool near or at the end of the show.

Problem is, as you've already noted, they're still 90% generic shit, which means only 10% (estimated) of any show is actually worth watching. As I already told Matt (Sharpshooter), until HHH revamps the roster by injecting actual talent, not even CM Punk can get me to waste two hours of my life sitting through the vanilla garbage they have filling out the rest of the program. If I turn WWE programming on and have to see doorknob personalities like Ted DiBiase Jr., I'm changing the channel 10 times out of 10.

I like CM Punk's old theme music too, but I dig the new theme music too as i'm a Living Colour fan and love that song "Cult Of Personality".

Single greatest theme song since Hogan's "American Made" IMO. Also the single most propos theme for the character coming out to it. Fits him to a T.

I see them or think they'll be doing CM Punk vs HHH authority figure storyline, much like Steve Austin vs McMahon was in the late 90's.

No chance. Culture has changed, and it's a rehash which doesn't have the same "pow" as the initial Austin/McMahon storyline. In addition to that, neither HHH or CM Punk have hit the level of popularity/draw that Austin/McMahon did. Austin/McMahon re-defined an entire era in professional wrestling. HHH/Punk only has the potential to on paper, but I seriously doubt that potential will come to fruition.

Bring back 6 side.

Why? It was a useless gimmick that did nothing to help sell the company. If anything it hurt them because most classically trained wrestlers trained in a four-sided ring, which makes working the six-sided ring much more difficult as even a simple Irish Whip may not be executed properly which could result in injury or botches.

Worse yet, when TNA first started they used a four-sided ring, so I still can't see the argument for a six-sided ring when the only group of wrestlers it benefits are the X Division stars.

- As noted before, WWE had six different scripts for last week's RAW where CM Punk returned and one plan was for Triple H to lay Punk out. The spot where Triple H would have hit Punk with a Pedigree was in the first, second, third and fourth script. Something happened, likely someone realized it was a bad idea, and the angle was edited out of the fifth script and then the 6th & final script.

Partial source: F4Wonline.com

LOL!!! Yeah, that would've been good. Lay out and bury, as soon as he comes back, your most over, popular wrestler in your company right away. I wonder how long until CM Punk plays-uh the game-uh.

On another note CM Punk will be doing a can't miss promo, as he described on a TV appearence earlier today as soon as RAW begins. So I will definitely be watching that.

So i'm watching a stream for tonights WWE RAW, and classic WCW from 1993 is on right now before RAW starts. Hollywood Blondes (Brian Pillman & Steve Austin) vs Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas for the NWA/WCW tag team titles. Just figured i'd tell you, Phil. Good stuff.

Appreciate it, Justin, but in the future don't actually post the stream here.

Can't miss promo? Yeah right.

I could have missed that. Wouldn't have changed much.

Only valuable line uttered was the one where Punk talked about HHH talking about how guys "don't have what it takes" when he was laying in bed with his wife. Otherwise, status quo.

That mic was a pipe bomb when he threw guys like John Laurenitis under the bus, but that promo was totally average.

I agree it was average. But I think they want to let this Punk-HHH thing build up more before they do more with this program. Just saying.

I also liked the part where he told HHH it was "just like looking in the mirror", and did the HHH impersonation.

I think there will more from this storyline when it gets heated up.

And that's when i'm guessing CM Punk will say what's on his mind.

He did mention, however, that the WWE did screw the pooch on the talent pool too. I'm sure you were smiling when he said that, because it's so true.

Yes, I smiled a bit at that, but I was really hoping for an Anderson reference, to be honest.

Stopped watching, though. Average promo. Nowhere near enough to make me want to sit through the rest of their turd polishing.

LOL!!! Believe me. It hurts sitting watching thru this other crap, but I guess I have to try to just to see if anything else happens with that.

I'll let you know if anything noteworthy happens.

Good luck, man. I left when I saw John Morrison and Rey Mysterio hit the screen. Both are wildly overrated and incredibly boring, IMO. Then it was followed up with the "Divas" and I knew the first hour would be horrendous.

I saw a schedule not too long ago. I think Survivor Series is coming to MSG, but I didn't notice any RAW or Smackdown's anytime soon, possibly in November though. If I were you, I would check the WWE touring schedule often and see if/when they're coming to MSG, or around in the area.

Yeah. Also, give credit to Gene Okerlund. If that was me, I would've died laughing. He just went to Stevie Ray like nothing happened.

I think that was also funny too, how Gene Okerlund just started talking afterwards like nothing happened. LOL!!!

NICE!!! I was actually looking for a gif of him blowing the kiss to Vince McMahon so I could put it in my signature on the wrestling forum I go to. You wouldn't happen to know where I can find one of those do you, Phil?

I searched Google image search before, and typed in "CM Punk blows kiss to Vince McMahon gif", but couldn't find anything.

In case you're wondering what i'm talking about, it's from after the match at Money In The Bank, where CM Punk took off thru the crowd, but before he did, he blew a kiss to Vince McMahon to mock him.

Anyway, would be much appreciated if you knew where to find one as all I could find were regular pictures.

On another note, there's no reason why NO ONE shouldn't be supporting CM Punk right now regardless if you/they hate the WWE or not.

Though, after watching the CM Punk segments last night with the HHHeat sapper/stealer, I hope they don't drop the ball with this, and things go back to the same. It wouldn't surprise me if they do.

But as I said, for now, i'm just gonna try to enjoy it.

For all companies, really. Total lack of talent.

The cache of real superstars was during the 90's. So many main eventers — Savage, Hogan, Nash, Hall, Rude, Hennig, Flair, Sting, Goldberg, Rock, Austin, etc. etc.

haha awesome. Im kind of interested to see what happens today at Summerslam. CM Punk is the only talent left on that roster but he does a great job entertaining. He cuts the best promos out of anyone in WWE & TNA imo. Speaking of great ppl on the mic, is Jericho ever gonna come back? I miss that guy!

Hey, twentyseven, long time, no see.

Anyway, i'm definitely looking foward to Summerslam tonight. At least the main event only. Word is that they're gonna give CM Punk vs Cena a lot of time or extra time that is. I just hope they do the right thing or make the right decision.

I would like CM Punk to win or keep the title, but I doubt they will do that. So I hope they either have HHH screw Punk, and Cena keeps the title, or Cena turns heel along with help from HHH.

I DO NOT want to see CM Punk be the one who turns heel and be corporate champion so soon. That's something you maybe do in the future like they did with Steve Austin, and only after he's established and can afford to do something like that. Punk is on the right path, but to maybe do that so soon would be the wrong decision and basically the only thing I don't want to see happen tonight. So naturally, it probably will happen lol!!!

But i'm hoping for a Cena heel turn.

We'll see. I'll be watching.

Im thinking they are going to do something really stupid like have Alberto Del Rio become champ. Have him be the "corporate champ", WWE likes to do these really stupid random things and this would fit under that bill.

For the record I actually kind of like Del Rio, but I dont want to see him get the strap this way. I definetly would like to see CM Punk win with some sort of non heel twist.

Cena sucks...just like the fans chant, everyone is sick of him and despite the fact that little kids love him he is stale and needs a heel turn..imo
But WWE won't turn their beloved Cena heel so they will do something dumb like 27 said adnd make Punk heel or have Rio become champ.
