I think the moment that got Chiarelli fired last night was when Brandon Manning got skated past like he was standing still and Koskinen let in an awful short-side goal.

All this says is that the entire Oilers org is a huge cluster fuck. How do you let a GM you're going to fire in a day or two negotiate and give out a huge contract like that?

I actually think it's a pretty good deal, or at least the least of their worries going forward. I think he's a fine goaltender.

it could go either way. If by the end of say, next season he keeps playing really well, the contract will be a bargain compared to most starting goalie standards. It's a high risk/reward type of move.
