Tolvanen Closer to Joining Predators

Recommended Posts

Eeli Tolvanen took another step toward joining the Nashville Predators on Monday when his contract with Jokerit of the Kontinental Hockey League was terminated by mutual consent.

The contract with Jokerit, which was eliminated from the KHL playoffs on Saturday, had an option that allowed it to be terminated after the first season.

Tolvanen, an 18-year-old forward, was Nashville's first-round pick (No. 30) in the 2017 NHL Draft. He is considered one of the best prospects not playing in the NHL. Nashville can offer Tolvanen a three-year, entry-level contract with a maximum salary of $925,000 per season, according to the NHL's collective bargaining agreement.

According to the Tennessean, Tolvanen's agent, Jay Grossman, said the goal is to have Tolvanen join the Predators this season.
