Kadri's deal totals US$27 million over six years for an average annual value of $4.5 million, while Rielly's pact is worth $30 million for an annual cap hit of $5 million.

Kadri finished as the Leafs' leading scorer, while Rielly set career-bests with nine goals, 27 assists, 36 points and an average of 23-plus minutes per night.

Kadri seems to have taken a hometown discount, he could have got $5 million, maybe more.

Not sure how your think people rate him to say that. He's like a Stepan in the sense where he'll dominate 20 games and then get lost for 15.

Seems like an off the cuff comment to me.

By.... who?

He'll be in their top-6 for $4.5M. This is a great contract. If he puts up 45 or so points like he has for the past few years, this deal is just good. But if he starts playing with actual good players, he could put up around 60 which is when this contract becomes really good.

It's a good deal for what he produces. If he was a point-per-game player, then his salary would be several million more. The fact that he's inconsistent is why he ends up producing what he does and he's being paid accordingly for that.

I wonder if the Rangers use the Kadri deal as a mark for Kreider.

I think Kreider would ideally have to come in about $0.75M to $1.0M under Kadri's AAV.

If you can get a 6 year deal at $4.5 for him, thats a pretty good deal IMO. Kreider has played 78 less games than Kadri and has scored only 20 more goals than Kreider. They are pretty close to putting up the same amount of points per season, around 45ish.
