Linking this from my phone so I'm not sure if it'll work.

Pens give up Perron and Clendening

Think hagelin's speed makes him a big threat to play on a line with crosby

Yes, he can skate up and down really fast, and miss the net every time Crosby puts it on his tape.

Ducks got Perron and Clendening for Hagelin, Rangers got Etem for Hagelin. LOL!

Hagelin had no contract when we traded him.

Now he has money, but his hands are so bad that he can't count it.

And Rangera got a 2nd round pick. Perron is a UFA at the end of this deal and has been struggling.

Perron is just really not very good.

Perron is just really not very good.
Talk about vague. I don't even know what this means lol.

He's "good" enough to be a 2nd liner on most teams.

If he's not "good", 2/3 of the NHL isn't either.

That's my point. He has to play 2nd line, but he's not quite good enough. Long bouts of ineffectiveness is probably a better way to say it.

I could see him getting a look with Crosby and the two hitting it off. Crosby tends to play with simple-minded players. Not a knock, but players who don't over-think the game.

I think if you look around the league, that can be said of most 2nd line or top tier 3rd line players. They are good players, and if they were effective for 82, they'd be first line players. But since they're usually effective in 50-60 games, and maybe go 3/4/5 games doing nothing, that makes them 50-60 point guys. Look at a guy like Brassard. If he was on his game every night, He'd be a 75 point guy. But he's not, so he's like a 55 point guy.

So I can't have Hagelin on the Rangers and I can't even have him close enough to watch in person. God I hate Bob Murray.

Hagelin in black and yellow... hate it. I hate both the teams in the NHL that wear black and yellow.

I love that the Penguins are now stuck paying Hagelin $4mil a season for the next three and a half years. I love the guy as a player but he's a cap burden until he puts up 35-40 points again.

You'll probably be saying the same thing in April. He'll probably have 4-5 points in his first 5-6 games. Then he'll disappear.

I don't get how they are fitting him in under their cap? Aren't they pretty stacked up against the ceiling?

Clendening + Perron were more expensive than Hags by a couple hundred thousand so, theoretically, they're saving money.

But at least Perron was a UFA, so long term I think this is dumb. Hags is not a top 6 player, and they'll need to fill that next year. Going to be tough to do when you're adding another $4m to next season.

This year is fine, but up and coming years will be an issue, and if Hags can't live up to that contract, then they are only moving him for another bad contract. The next couple of years are going to be rough for them to resign or bring in anyone.

But in dealing with one problem, Rutherford created another. The Pens are now on the hook for Hagelin’s contract, which runs through 2018-19 at a hit of $4 million. That’s a curious commitment for a cap-strapped team that desperately needed to wipe Perron’s expiring $3.8 million hit off the books this summer. It leaves Pittsburgh with nearly $60 million committed next season to 14 players (plus salary retention on previous deals), with RFA Olli Maatta due for a significant raise and six other roster spots to fill.

Pitt's problem was, and still is this:
Crosby + Malkin = winning. Just fill in whoever around them, and it'll be fine.
