Might as well start it now, hot stove is firing up!

Mets lose out on another one...Zobrist chooses the team that was beaten by the team that his previous team beat in the World series. Now Daniel Murphy might be the Mets best choice again, if he even wants them. But Chicago now gets a bat that they so desperately needed in the NLCS against the Mets last fall.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/14324454/ben-zobrist-chicago-cubs-agree-terms-4-year-56-million-deal

Yankees get Starling Castro for Adam Warren and Brendan Ryan. Good deal for Yankees, they owe him a lot of money but get their solid second baseman.
http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/40172882/v533756183/mlb-tonight-discusses-castro-to-the-yankees

Braves Shelby Miller traded to the Dbacks. All of sudden now the Giants and Dodgers may not have their usual stranglehold on the NL west with the moves Arizona
has made.

The Braves-Arizona deal is awesome, and has potential to work really well for both teams.

Miller is a stud who was pitching on a horrific team. The Braves get back the #1 overall pick from this years draft, plus 2 other pitching prospects with potential. Really an interesting trade all around.

idk what the fuck the Diamondbacks were doing with that Miller deal, that's a deal that would get Harvey or Jose Fernandez, not Shelby fucking Miller. I get they wanna win, but Swanson is going to be a huge star in this league. Dumb move.

While I agree to an extent, Shelby Miller has alot of upside. He was great with a putrid Braves team.

I don't know, I think the Braves fleeced the Dbacks. Shelby Miller is a decent starter, but that was a lot to give up for a pitcher who at his best is probably a #3 starter

Johnnydollaz18
12-10-2015, 09:06 AM
Only reason that move was made was because of LaRussa used to be with the Cardinals and familiar with Miller. Other than that, it was a fleece job by the Braves.

Cubs going full bore this offseason. Will be an even better and much improved club from the one the Mets swept in the NLCS last October

Acquire Jason Heyward

I feel like i'm the only one not over-excited about that move, he's not as great as he's made out to be, and 15 HR's? Doesn't scare me. Can still beat that team.

JOHN

The braves absolutely fleeced Arizona in the Miller trade. He's not worth that kind of haul, I can't believe that deal got made.

It's nice to see the Phil's get a good haul for Giles, and to see him find his way onto a good team. That guy is going to be fire on a real squad.

Todd Frazier to the White Sox in a 7 player, three team deal.

The first domino has fallen in the Reds’ offseason rebuild, as Cincinnati has announced the trade of All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier to the White Sox in a three-team deal that also includes the Dodgers. Cincinnati will receive three prospects — infielders Jose Peraza and Brandon Dixon and outfielder Scott Schebler — from the Dodgers, who, in turn, will receive prospects Frankie Montas, Micah Johnson and Trayce Thompson from the White Sox.

Who also might be suspended if those allegations against him take place.

its a no brainer for the yankees, they didnt give up anything...best thing they gave up from what i read is a potential back of the rotation starter. MLB wont suspend him for a long period of time, no charges were brought up against him and the case is closed.

if Chapman is suspended by the league and misses 46 days of service or more in 2016, he won't be eligible for free agency, and will spend 2017 under control of the team, and will be paid similarly to 2016.

Seriously. I don't get that trade at all. Revere is beyond bad and Storen can actually play baseball decently.

Forgetting what kind of hitter he is for a moment, Revere takes some of the worst routes I've ever seen to a fly ball. And he has the arm of a small paralyzed child.

Didn't the Storen have issues with the Nats after they took away the closer job from him in favor of Papelbon? Probably just wanted to get him off the team instead of having a disgruntled player in the clubhouse.

JOHN

That kid looks like he can really hit, are they keeping him at 3rd?

Dom Brown is in Jays camp, that made me laugh.

Yeah he's going to stay there. He has the tools defensively, he's not just a pure bat.

In some ways I feel bad for Brown. Tons of athletic talent, got a a lot of hype early and then got fumbled around because of a log jam at his position, along with some injuries. He is definitely a head case though, or rather he seems to have focusing issues. Only one hitting coach, Wally Joyner, combined with some drive on his own to prove himself got him to really take being a professional seriously. That was 2013, and until he got hurt it seemed to really pay off. I remember being at a game where he threw out a runner from the fence easily, had an rbi double and 3 run bomb, along with a diving catch that year and thinking "holy shit this dude has finally put it all together." Then he got hurt, Joyner left, and his head never got back in it, at least not at the plate. He lost that even, flattened swing and went back to upper cutting and chopping. Lost his consistency and his feel for the strike zone that made him so dangerous. (In 2013 he was great at working the count, getting walks, and forcing pitchers to throw to him. He feasted on mistakes, but not just out of luck. He created those mistakes.)

I hope he can become a major league player. Maybe not everyday, but at least a role player. I just don't see it though.

He's got a longgggg swing, he's looked pretty good, but I hope they keep Pompey for the 4th OF.

Very long. Joyner got him to shorten it just a little bit, and put it on a more even plane. That made a huge difference. You know he's in a bad spot when his hands start getting high in his state and he gets real loopy. A little loopy can be good if controlled, but this dude was doing rollercoaster loops in his backswing.

Vince Velasquez struck out 16 today for the Phil's. He now has 25 through his first 2 starts. This kid isn't just entertaining, he's a flat out stud. It's crazy how in two years we went from having no pitching prospect depth to having Velasquez, Eichoff, and Nola, with 3 5 more guys in the minors who can challenge as well within the next 2 years. It's too bad Altherr fucked up his wrist, he and Nick Williams jumping up to this squad and surrounding Franco in the lineup would be mighty fun to watch. Hopefully Alfaro gets called up soon, dude is hitting .500 in double A at this point. He needs to at least get to triple A soon.

They're fielding a completely different line-up it looks like. Where they were so deep last year, now they're running all their depth guys out as starters.

Normally, I'd say in that division they'd have plenty of time to get healthy and roll it over, but Cleveland is fuckin good.

Losing Moustakas for the season, and Gordon for like 2 months definitely hurt them. Cuthbert/Eibner/Merrifield have played pretty well in their absence. Pitching has killed them this season, Chris Young has been dreadful and I think he's moving to the pen starting this week. He's given up something like 25 HRs. Ventura has been pretty bad in like 75% of his starts. Volquez has been good, but then has had some terrible starts like giving up 9 runs in 1 inning.

So it's basically Jays vs. some scrubs from some other league in the WS at this point? I like it.

Jays look like they're destined at this point. Never would I have imagined Hamels would get rocked like he did. Once I saw that, I basically punched their ticket. I think it's a team of destiny at this point.

Jays/Indians ALCS.

Giants win dramatic Game 3 to stave off elimination. I wonder if the Giants win today, does Madison Bumgarner make an appearance in Game 5 on 2 days rest?

Cleveland isn't very good, not while missing their #2 and #3 starters. Pretty Oatmeal lineup as well.

Great opportunity here for The Jays, missing Boston. Don't blow it, you assholes.

Cubs are choking here, down 5-2 in the 8th, and blew the game last night. Looks like it will be game 5, Cueto vs Lester.

Been a Giant fan since age 11. Watched the entire game last nite and was stunned that Bochy took Matt Moore out at the end of the 8th inning after pitching 2 hit ball with, I think 10 k's. 5 Giant relievers couldn't get the final 3 outs before giving up 4 runs in the top of the 9th. Their bull pen has been awful the entire season. Chapman closes out by striking out the side in the bottom half. Atrocious decision as it turned out. WTF was he thinking. Guy pitched a 2-hitter. A 2 HITTER!! UNBELIEVABLE!!

Thankfully the Giants bullpen is beyond atrocious. If they kept Moore in the game was over. He's thrown more pitches in a regular season game, it's do or die!

One of the stupidest, bone-headed, idiotic decisions in recent memory. And he justified it by saying that Moore threw 120 pitches. The team got there by gut wrenching determination and then the manager makes a decision that defies explanation. I'm more upset at this than at the Rangers getting taken out in 5 by the Pens... almost, lol.

Maybe the Rangers can sign Bochy to a front office position.

Really good game, Estrada has been money during his playoff career so far. I hope its a long series with the Jays winning. Bautista need to stop the whining about balls and strikes, reminds me of last year's ALCS. Jays hitters can't get unraveled to bad strike calls.

Baseball is so weird, but that's why I love it

If you would have told me that the Jays pitching would keep them in it all year and the offense would sink the teams chances I would have thought you were a moron, but that's exactly the case.

Either they make history or they are history, if they lose like it looks like they are about to do it's going to be a fun off season.

Yea I like the Jays again tonight, especially with the pitching matchup and how well they seem to play with their backs against the wall

And yes the Cubs are already feeling it, the weight of all those expectations and the history is very heavy, even though most of the players were just little kids the last time the Cubs were this close to a World Series (2003). Dodgers pitchers are giving them nothing to hit and the Cubs hitters are simply not adjusting. As much as I would like to see the Cubs finally make a WS, I like seeing smug Joe Maddon humbled. He just gives off this air that he's knows more than anyone else

Yeah, Cubbies are nervous. Arietta pitched a poor game last night and Hill threw a great game. I didn't realize the Cubs have only been good for one season. They might need a bit more seasoning to win the World Series.

Ok that's enough baseball for me for about 3 more years. See ya guys. lol

The dismantling of the 2015 World Series Champion KC Royals has begun.

Royals about to trade Wade Davis to the Cubs for Jorge Soler.
Jarrod Dyson may be next to go.
Trying to trade Ian Kennedy. He will be hard to trade b/c of his contract.
Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Alcides Escobar all on the block.
Read that Danny Duffy and Yordano Ventura are available. Trading Danny Duffy makes zero sense.

Marlins didn't have much leverage. Full No Trade and a terrible contract.

Will be crazy couple years if he stays healthy, but that contract is an Arod redux and they won't be able to hide him at DH later either as Sanchez isn't a serious baseball catcher.
