[I]QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

Collectively, that could be the worst two periods I’ve seen since I got here, and that’s a lot of games. Hopefully that was a low point for us. We are leaving it to the leadership of this team to rally the troops. It is not about X’s and O’s right now. We are not competing at a level we need to. We are getting crushed by Edmonton in our building and that is embarrassing.

— Assistant Coach Ulf Samuelsson on sucking vs. the Edmonton Oilers... it wasn't the low point... they continued to suck

My daughter really wants to Rangers to beat the fuck out of Cindy Crybaby (her words) and the little bitch Penguins tonight.

So she put on her jersey and is hanging out with former Ranger Pandon Dubearsky.

Good test tonight, going against a perennial Cup contender. Rangers aren't at full strength but would be sweet to grab some points in the standings. From Penguins perspective they are probably expecting 2 points so would be awesome to ambush them.

LGR!

I'm worried about the special teams, our PK is doing pretty bad going up against Pens with 21PPG this season, and as usual our PP is lacking going up against a good penalty killing team.

Just numbers, but hoping Rangers play a solid game and don't take stupid penalties

That's the thing, neither Fast nor Miller looked bad, but they didn't really do anything to cement themselves in the line up. Hayes has his issues, but he is decent defensively, brings size to the line up and likes to hold on to the puck (a little too long).

Great effort by the good guys last night.
That is exactly the way this team needs to play to be effective. Use our speed on the forecheck to create turnovers.
Once we get back Mac and Boyle, we should improve on limiting scoring chances as well.
Only gripe is not using Duclair correctly. The kid needs playing time and needs to be out there with other fast, skilled players. If he isn't going to get top six minutes, send him back to juniors.

A lot of players have that issue (see Gilroy). Ability to use your skill effectively is a skill in and of itself

I wish the Rangers just traded him already so we all don't have to hear Pete whine about him every game :D

Luckily, I keep my whining in appropriate threads, and usually not in GDTs. I'm considerate.

Just had to post this gem from the Pens board:

Watch Nash go around Crosby who doesn't even move his feet or take a single stride to try to stay with Nash.

Letang (who was behind Crosby) sees Nash cutting and hustles PAST Crosby to try to catch Nash.

Stepan beats Malkin to the puck.

Nash beats Crosby and Letang to the net for the goal.

Just awesome how Crosby gave 0% effort on that play as if "I can't be bothered to take two strides and cover Nash when I'm on the powerplay!" was his attitude. Love it! SUCK IT CROSBY.

I'd say that 50% of the time, that play leads to at least a scoring chance, because it was obvious that Stepan was getting to the puck before Malkin. That makes it a 1 on 1 behind the net, with Nash all alone in front (unless Crosby makes an effort to stay with him). 1 on 1 behind the net with Stepan getting to the puck first = at LEAST 50% of the time Stepan can get that puck to the front of the net.

And like Mikey said, do you think Crosby makes that same effort in May?
