[I]QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

"I'm going to continue to do what I've done every single year, and I'm not going to change
anything. There's things I can do a little bit more of, and try and help some of the younger
guys--so to speak--but it (being named alternate captain) is cool, something I am really proud
of, and am really honored. It's something I look forward to."

I really don't see the point of keeping either up. Neither fit the role and really neither fit in the top 9 right now. I would just send them down and bring up Fast and Lindberg.

Duclair isn't AHL eligible. He'd have to be returned to Junior, where he'd be lost for the duration of the Junior season.

Haven't gotten anything signed since Prucha was still on the team, but I know a lot of players and personnel exit at 8th avenue all the time. Any exit. They also drive out of the garage entrance on 8th as well.

Sucker punch is what Brashear did to Aaron Ward. Cheap shot is what Roussel did to Braun, or what Avery did to Smid.

I'll tell you what, every time we lose one of these free agents after a deep run asking for top dollar I'm always disappointed. It happened when we gave up Prust and Dubinsky, and it happened this year too with Stralman and Pouliot. I know we can't pay Pouliot 4.5M per year but this is a player that's better than our entire bottom 6. We all knew Stralman was good before the numbers he's been putting up this season, but we couldn't find the salary for that guy? Such a shame, especially now while watching Danny G and Hunwick get walked by every other rush. Frustrating.

Hayes is the only one creating shit right now.

That was certainly one factor, but the main (or at least another) factor was Hayes playing a very strong game.

Hayes didn't automatically get more ice time because everyone else sucked. He played a strong game in all three zones, was noticeable almost every shift, and was the only Ranger who consistently made smart plays to create offensive chances.

It's the combination of Hayes playing well and everyone else playing like shit.

Why is it so difficult for you to give credit when it's due?

Hayes played a good game. He was rewarded with more ice time, especially late in the third because nobody else except him was creating anything.

I don't blame them for having tired legs on the 2nd half of a back-to-back. They're humans. It happens. But, even tired, there is no reason for them to look mentally out to lunch the way they did last night. I get tired, but they look exhausted for no reason. They looked like they were playing their 4th game in 2 days, not their 2nd.

Back-to-back's happen, and typically you find a tired team in Game 2 of those situations. And thats fine. Tired or not, you still need to show up and compete and try to overcome that. Last night, they just looked like they were a team that was mentally on planet Saturn.

I wouldn't call Lundqvist the engine because when I say that, I'm thinking about a guy who controls the pace of the game and leads us both defensively and in transition. It's a semantics argument, but I'd call Lundqvist our MVP, while McDonagh is the engine that drives our three-zone game.
