Wow Hayes centering the 4th? wouldn't we be better off with Moore there and Hayes with Hags and Stemp or even Mueller as center on 4th with Moore on 3rd and move Stemp to 4th and Hayes to third? Very odd

That could change. These were the lines to start the game against the Jets. We'll know more about what the line-up may look like tonight after the morning skate.

Considering the role, I'd imagine they just bring up Fast again and slot everyone up to fill the void.

Let's Go Rangers!!! Let's find a way to prove we can play with the big boys...We are missing four Dmen and our top Center, this would be a great game to put on a show for some young kids...Duclair, Hayes, maybe Fast if called up...Kostka and Hunwick can really prove themselves as well as McIlrath and Allen...Maybe a player like Hagelin can show up and play a good game and say hey I don't want to be moved to the 4th EVER...interesting game for a lot of younger players or cusp players

I'm pretty happy Malone wasn't claimed. Now they have 30 days to be able to reassign him without waivers again. I guess all the other NHL teams agree with AV and don't want him which surprises me. I like a scrappy guy that plugs up the goal line.

All part of reducing the number of fights. Makes fighting itself that much harder to accomplish, especially once they immediately responded to the "take each others' helmets off" tactic done way early in the year.

Same, but now that it's out of the way, I'd imagine McIlrath will get by the rest of the game and be able to just play.

I hope so. Similar to the Chara situation (not comparing the two players' skill levels at all), you're more valuable on the ice than off of it, so tone the fighting down. With Glass and Malone on the roster, the Rangers won't be inclined to keep McIlrath because of his fighting ability. They'd keep him if he can play 16+ minutes and play steady defense. He's had five shifts and gotten penalties on two of them.

They need to watch tape of the Red Wings powerplay.

Quick, decisive, one-touch passes and shots taken at every opportunity.

Movement and moving the puck quickly.

(and it's not just Datsyuk and Zetterberg doing it. Their whole team is schooled this way. Their PP is excellent regardless of the unit / personnel)

We have no movement. And MSL in the middle of the high slot on the PP is retarded. He should be on a point or half-wall so he can draw coverage and find an open player. Feeding him in the high slot for a perfect one-timer is a play that works maybe one out of ten tries. Get out of there.

Bingo.

McI looked good. Nice fight. But her will have to answer the bell often of he throws his body around.

And....he isn't Chara. Chara NEEDS to be on the ice. McI...not so much.

I never compared their skill or their value to their respective teams. Just that he's more valuable as a presence on the ice than off of it.

Just fine, really. Got walked around on the Tarasenko goal, but the play was moreso Kostya's (intentional misspelling) fault. He got crossed up, which made McIlrath have to fill in for his man.

Actually he did create his own chance off a rebound. He just missed sweeping the puck in after gaining control of it in traffic, in front of the net. Getting a scoring chance infront of the net is noteworthy if you ask me. A guy going to the net on this team is definitely noteworthy.

A hit a shift is way more impressive than Malone huffing and puffing 10 seconds and not being able to keep up with the team. The worst part is that he doesn't offer great hands or a good shot with his slow speed a la Dany Heatley. He's slow and doesn't offer much else. Two tips, that's nice, but a team relying on Ryan Malone on the PP is doomed.

I get that AV wants Glass as a deterrent / protection, but man he is absolutely a black hole offensively.

He has the vision of Helen Keller. Had Staal wide open cutting to the net and he just lobs a shot wide.

He makes previous enforcers like John Scott look like Adam Oates.

At least Dorsett could play the game. In fact, I'd so much rather have Dorsett on this team than Glass and the 3rd round pick.

Enough about Malone not being able to skate. Clearly, he can. He's fine. He's a 13th F who can fill in on any line and is extremely versatile. Glass is a one-dimensional fourth liner who honestly could NOT even fill in on the third line in a pinch.

I really don't think there's a player in the NHL with less offensive skill. Did he not play hockey as a kis? Reminds me of that movie The Replacements, as if we just found some street tough guy and put skates on him. He really is not a hockey player.

Brian Boyle was a staple on this team. Lets not act like speed is pre requisite to be an effective player. Hockey sense, guts, and ability do still count. Malone has all of that, and does fit.
