2014-15 Prediction Series

Poll Series Information:

That’s right, by no popular demand, the most exciting Poll Series is back! This year we have another fantastic series of obscure, yet meaningful, polls. Each day, from now until puck drop, we will bring a new poll to test your random prediction abilities to show if you Bleed Blue. Additionally, we have some outstanding polls from previous seasons including “Lundqvist Death Stares” and “Who fights first: Del Zotto or Stepan”.

Points will be accumulated when the poll question has been answered. Value of question and answer vary based on poll participants, number of options, number of games played, and accuracy. Once the season is over, we will award a winner. All winners will be verified using a neutral third party.

To be eligible, poll bids MUST be registered prior to the puck drop of the Rangers season opener on Thursday, October 9, 2014 unless otherwise specified in that poll. Winner(s) are chosen based on correct poll voting, NOT in-thread predictions unless otherwise specified. Some polls may require additional information to be submitted in the thread, but only users with the correct poll option chosen will be eligible in such polls.

7.) 3rd Liner Points

In my opinion, as I stressed all season, the strength of the Ranger came from using a useful 3rd line instead of crap like Voros, Ortmeyers, and Pyatts. Last season, we saw breakout seasons from Zuccarello. We saw some consistent, and impactful play from Brassard. We saw necessary and timely points from Pouliot... and all of this helped propel the Rangers to have the success that did.
Will this year be different? Will we resort to seeing the third line resorting back to the days of being turnover machines, or usesless glass...

The points will be tallied of the main third line throughout the season, on a quarterly basis. Only even strength points will count.

2013-14:
Zuccarello: 41
Brassard: 27
Pouliot: 28
Total: 96

Same as last year. That "chemistry" shit was overblown.

Oh I don't agree at all. How was it overblown? And this year's 3rd line is now the 2nd line. The 3rd line is now Duclair, Miller, Stempniak.

All three of the members of our third line sucked for half the year. Zuccarello was Suckarello for all of October and November. It took a while to develop that chemistry and it was after many tries with different combinations. What they did wasn't out of the realm of possibility of other third lines, and they have until January to get their shit together in order to match/exceed PouBraZu's production.

I don't know about that. I don't. Think chemistry is overblown at all. See: Nylander, M. + Jagr, J.

I guess we'll see, but I'm not talking about chemistry in general. Clearly Jagr, Nylander, and X had chemistry. But everyone screaming for Zuccarello and Brassard to be together no matter what is a bit rash, especially with how in flux our team is.

I agree to an extent. I think, however, you have to at least start the season there.

Sure, nothing wrong with that. I will say that neither Brassard, nor Zuccarello looked particularly good throughout the preseason. Not that it matters all that much, but still.

71-80, assuming the third line stays (mostly) assembled.
