[I]QUOTE TO NOTE:

“Marty’s a lot like the Duke (Duclair) right now…Every time I go up to the Duke, it’s
‘Have you killed penalties before?’ ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’
‘Have you played the right side before?’ ‘Yeah, yeah.’
I say,‘Have you played the point on the power play?’ He says, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’
“Marty’s the same way. ‘Can you play center?’ ‘Yeah, yeah, whatever you need.’”
“Some guys are smart enough, they figure it out. Never say you can’t play somewhere. Say, ‘Yes, I can.’”

— [Coach] Alain Vigneault on MSL playing center.

Carcillo, for those who are unaware, was released from his PTO with PIT yesterday, I believe, and signed to a PTO with Chicago this morning.

I kinda wish Hags was in this game, his speed and his PK ability is great but he's obviously a lock for the team and give Stepniak, Hayes, Fast and Malone a shot to make the club. I think he has been playing well, I see Malone making it, Fast and Duclair (maybe temporary who knows yet). Step as your extra Forward

Would give it to Malone for the way he works around the net. Can't ever have enough guys doing that

Agree. Though I will say this for him — usually he comes into games with it and then knows if he's gonna fight, he'll take it off. Happened last year a couple times, especially in that first game against the Flyers.

Is it just me or does Stempniak look like he may not make
This team...

Stemp hasn't done much to really prove he should make it.

I'll take Malone on my team as well

after seeing him tonight in close and in person — albeit from section 211 — he's definitely in my wish list. Rounding into form nicely. If he can keep it clean it's all there for him. He's the right fit for this team if he wants it enough.

Saw a couple of good Stempmoments, but he needs to get in synch with the flow a little more. He has some skills, how much are they eroded, and how much is just preseason and injury rust, hard to tell

I like Hunwick.

He's kind of a poor man's McD in that even if he makes a mistake he can kind of make up for it because he's such a good skater.

He got a good look tonight. Did alright. AV was putting the rooks out there as much as was reasonably possible.

This game really has been entertaining as any. Rangers/Hawks the last two years have always been money match-ups.

Yes, and worth the money. Don't get to see the Hawks that often, and they are dadgum good.

It was a lot of fun to be there tonight. Got better as the game went on. Fans were in rare form in the stairwells good chants going there, some good natured ribbing of the Hawks fans.

Had a ball. Bronx Pale Ale tonight was better than the Six Point and both are better than the rest. Daily Burger was excellent.

Eating spicy Santa Fe trail mix before all (w/o a gall bladder) was maybe not advisable. Queues for concessions are too long; ditto bathrooms. And we need more stoppages in play to get back into seats. First period there was no stoppage for like 15 minutes or some such nonsense. Staff don't always know the team (c'mon!)

Takes a while to get home after OT games, walk the dog-puppy then play with the dog-puppy — no posts till midnite!

Indeed,we could use a net presence, someone that will not only be able to handle going to the dirty areas but also has the skill to pot some.Hope he sticks around.

Can't see Stempniak making it.

Miller and Malone look very good together.

Miller looks much better with a big guy like Malone. I think he actually slows it down a bit and that makes it a bit easier for him to anticipate what's happening on the ice.

Yea. I am liking what I'm seeing, considering I hated the signing to begin with. So far the only players I could care less for right now are Kostka and Stempniak.

Because Rosen sucks. He's there because he's as old as the Garden and probably grew roots in the box.

He's been quite effective. Probably the most impressive bottom-6 forward next to Malone.

We need Kenny Albert to take over for him.

Rosen is an icon across multiple sports. Giannone is a nerd.

More like a relic. I love Rosen, but he needs to retire. His eyes are failing him

He's got like Ralph Kiner status with the Rangers. They'd maybe not part ways officially but have him do select games. NYR would come up with a good PR way of explaining it.

No doubt. I feel he's earned the right to go out on his own terms though. The notion of pushing him out is mind boggling to me. There are FAR worse play X play men.

Agreed. Most great guys eventually reach this stage. I mean, Vin Scully isn't exactly as sharp as a tack right now, but no one cares.

Yes I was real curious about how it sounded to folk via TV or radio. There were quiet times and loud times.
Definitely had a bit of a sore throat today, from hootin' and hollering' and putting the voodoo hex on the Chicago shooters.

I was thinking it was pretty loud in there at times, and there was a real good vibe. Folks were in a mood to have fun and the team came up with just enough good stuff to keep em in the fun mode.

Missed a lot of the first period though just getting into the place (slow), getting a beer (slowish) and taking a pee (even slower), and then we got held at the stairwell for freaking ever (uber slow) -- no stoppages in play for like 11 minutes - someone take a penalty! ice the puck! do something but force a stoppage for heaven's sake!

We got sat just as the 1st period ended :O and then it was all too quickly over from there, even though we had overtime and 12 rounds or so of shoot out, it was over too quick...so the party continued in the stairs; good friday night crowd, even the folks in red shirts.

This was a playoff-hungry crowd with energy left over from the SCFs .. or at least that's what it felt like.

Otherwise, no, I'm a loyal Sam Rosen fan and I expect he'll retire when he's ready and I will miss him and so will the wife. I'm guessing those who don't appreciate him won't have to wait long; it's a heck of a life for a very senior gentleman to fly around the country days and work nights.
