"I like the way a lot of our young guys got their first opportunity and came out on the
ice and contributed. It was an exhibition game, but there are a lot of positive signs."

Reading into the lineups - Miller has officially made the squat, they're just checking who to play him with at this point.

Stepan's injury basically sealed the deal for Miller. Now its matter of seeing who else makes the team with an unexpected open slot.

Reading into the lineups - Miller has officially made the squat, they're just checking who to play him with at this point.

Probably, but he was the strongest candidate to make the team by default coming into the season regardless of his play thus far. Once Richards was bought out, it was really a matter of "who, if anyone" can beat J.T. Miller for the third-line center spot?"

There's a lot more to his game that are unknowns, in my eyes. As Alex pointed out, he's got his head down a lot. That's scary. Also he's looking a little to eager to fly the D-zone.

yep...and while it's "ok" right this second, if he's doing that kind of shit late in the season and it costs us something, it would be horrible.

Phil in Absentia

Well, the thing about that is that that's the type of thing NHL teams will recognize and neutralize within the first month of the season. Players looking for that jump don't get it for very long.

Well, the thing about that is that that's the type of thing NHL teams will recognize and neutralize within the first month of the season. Players looking for that jump don't get it for very long.

Look at Michael Grabner. His production has decreased every season since his first full year when he scored 34. Then 20, then 16 in a shortened season and 12 last year. He doesn't get the jump anymore so his speed is neutralized. You see the opposite with Hagelin who uses his speed to create rushes and opportunities on the forecheck. Grabner got a lot of his goals getting "sprung" on plays.

I don't care what you have to do, Duclair needs to be on this team to start the season. Even if it ends up biting you in the ass, his potential and the attitude he brings is what keeps a locker room going. He has enthusiasm and he's hungry, plus the kid has skill. We don't have another player like him in our system, save for Buchnevich, and he is unavailable.

I believe the refs can call a Delay of Game penalty if they deem the puck was sent out of play on purpose.

A minor penalty shall be imposed on any player, including the goalkeeper, who holds, freezes or plays the puck with his stick, skates or body in such a manner as to deliberately cause a stoppage of play.
