Update to my jazz bass thread

So, took it apart today for identification purposes and look what I found... :D

Unfortunately, I don't know what the body markings mean, but I'm waiting to hear back from the guy Marc recommended me from the old boards who I emailed today, hopefully he can provide some info. Eitherway, all very good signs for me, and hopefully someone will buy soon so I can get my car. :)

Pic of the inside here for anyone curious/good at identifying these types of things:

that's a nice date there... you'll find a lot of opinions on pre/post CBS Fenders, but most Fenders of that age have some value. The key to the whole thing is originality. Original volume/tone pots, pick-ups, finish, tuners, scratch plate, bridge, are the bridge and pick-up covers still with the bass, is the neck still in good condition, original and well maintained frets??? All of these factors weigh heavily in the value and market of the bass.

Only someone with experience and no agenda can do this for you, and he'll have to inspect it in person. Once again, stay away from the chain music stores, go to a well respected luthier in your area.

Yeah.

I tried emailing that guy you recommended Marc, and he gave me a name for this area, but I have had a hard time getting a hold of the guy.

I spent a night last week taking it apart almost completely. Took some more pics, and the pots SN confirm that they are from one of the original factories (Stackpole to be exact) and I can't find any info on the pickups (yet anyway).

Found a place that may be able to help me sell that I'm going to call tomorrow. Not that confident, but we will see.

to be honest I'm no expert... I play and I have a few basses that I used to make my living with, but I never was interested in bass history or anything like that... I have a 64 precision that I've butchered into non value by making it my own... it was my main work tool for 20 years and like I said I'm not very attached to value and I'll never sell.

However, someone gave you some good advice on the old board that said register with talkbass... it's a good site, people are a tad snotty, but they have some very bass savvy people, fender historians, and it's also a very good trustworthy market place for a sell-able bass. Explain your situation and it could be a great one-stop for you.

I actually did just that not too long ago and put up a post, but no one really responded. I did recently get a PM though asking about it, and just sent the guy all the info I had, so we will see how that goes. CL has produced a couple of bites as well, but one guy was just a troll and the other guy decided against it since not all pieces were verified yet... feel like I'm running in circles, lol.
